A cemetery plot is only useful to a buyer if the details are right. Before we present a listing’s details as confirmed, we ask the seller to confirm six things, in their own words:
- Authority to sell — that they hold the interment rights, or are authorized (for example, as an estate executor) to sell them.
- Cemetery and location — the cemetery, city, and where in the grounds the property sits.
- Plot identifiers — the section, lot, and grave or space numbers exactly as the cemetery records them.
- Exact asking price — one figure (or one figure per space, stated as such), in stated currency.
- Availability — that the property is still available for sale.
- Transfer restrictions — anything that limits the transfer or use of the plot, as far as the seller knows.
How listings are marked. When all six confirmations are on record, the listing qualifies to be marked Verified. A listing whose confirmations are still being completed carries no Verified mark — the seller’s stated details are shown as the seller stated them, and we complete the confirmations with the seller directly. Listings that are sold, withdrawn, under offer, or on hold are removed from available inventory; we never present them as available.
What buyers can rely on. Facts a seller has confirmed with us — identifiers, price, availability, and any capacity or restriction the seller or the cemetery has stated — are the facts we will quote you, and we re-confirm availability with the seller before making an introduction. If we cannot confirm a detail, we will tell you it is unconfirmed rather than guess. The final transfer itself is always completed and approved by the cemetery office (see “How a Cemetery Plot Transfer Works”).
What we never do. We never publish a seller’s phone number or email address — all contact runs through GraveListing at info@gravelisting.com / 1-866-561-2688. We never post pictures of deeds or ownership documents. And we never guarantee a transfer, hold purchase funds, or speak for any cemetery.
